Not that anyone wants to think about this,
but today the AP & ESPN/USA Today polls came
out, and as we had all knew would happen, the Tar Heels aren't the number one team in the nation anymore.
Last night didn't have many games on the
schedule, six in all, but it had several of
the ex Carolina ball players, which means that on The Fifth Corner it is time to do the post I call "Heels in the League".
While the UNC men's basketball team surprised most
of us yesterday, today's news from the UNC football
team, being that Hakeem Nicks is going to forego his last year of college and enter the NFL draft, didn't surprise many, did it?
I waited to write my recap of the
game between North Carolina (13-1) and Boston College (13-2)
because I wanted to make sure no one jumped off the ledges during the night.
After the biggest schedule ever for the National
Basketball Association two days ago, yesterday the NBA went
back to a pretty normal slate, with seven games on the night...
For top ranked North Carolina (13-0) tomorrow begins
the ACC part of the schedule. Their first opponent
will be Boston College (12-2), who I had the pleasure to get some information about by interviewing one of their best bloggers, Eagle in Atlanta.
The football season might be over, but the
recruiting seems to be heating up for North Carolina.
During the U.S. Army All American Bowl game head coach Butch Davis got another commitment...
After a day of rest with no teams
playing in the National Basketball Association, last night was
the total opposite, as the NBA had each and every team playing for the first time ever.
As we digest the end of the football
season at Chapel Hill and await the Men's Basketball
team to start playing in the ACC part of the season, let me give you a small tid bit about another sport at UNC.
As the ACC part of the schedule is
about to begin I have found one of the
best bloggers for the Boston College Eagles, Carolina's opponent this coming Sunday, Eagle in Atlanta to answer a few questions for us...
When you read some stats about top ranked
North Carolina (13-0) you find out that they're beating
teams by an average of close to 27 points per game and have only scored under 80 once this season. So, when Carolina beat Nevada (7-6) by 23 points, 84 to 61, those stats do make sense.
So, with a record of 9 and 5,
meaning a winning percentage of .642, I had two
games last night that I picked. In the last two nights I have gone 1 and 1, and yesterday was no different...
Pretty light schedule in the National Basketball Association
last night, with just three teams with ex Carolina
players playing. But, be it one or all of them, if any ex Tar Heels are on the court here at The Fifth Corner are ready to do our recap of those games in the post I call "Heels in the ...
So, when we are listening to all the
so-called experts talking about the best conference in football
it's all about the SEC, more SEC and something nothing else but SEC. Well, I found a site that had some good material to be able to get back at that conference.
Top Ranked North Carolina (12-0) vs Nevada (7-5)

As I love to do most everyday that
I have the time I was checking around the
blogosphere for anything/everything North Carolina. Today I found a small break down about the S2D's Top Five Wide Receiver Recruits in America.
As I read around it seems to me
that the Meineke Car Care Bowl game will have
been the last time that Hakeem Nicks dons the Carolina Blue. I figured that a good way to remember the junior wide out as he heads into the National Football League is to put up the YouTube of one of the most memorable ...
As we approach the new year I am
pretty happy that I can say that the "Heels
in the League" post is a daily thing (and I am not catching up anymore). Yesterday there were many ex Tar Heels playing, so let's get right to it...
Right now, after 14 picks in this year's
Pick`Em of the ACC basketball games, I am at
a 9 and 5 record. Not bad, but the last two nights in a row I went 1 and 1, dropping me from a .700 winning percentage to a .642 one.
I began the day at 8 and 4,
meaning a .666 winning percentage, and had two Atlantic
Coast Conference games with double digit spreads.

The polls are out...
