Today the Chicago Blackhawks announced that he had
agreed with terms with legendary coach Scotty Bowman and
is looking forward to working with his Assistant General Manager, Hockey Operations son, Stan Bowman.
The Wings have signed defenseman Brad Stuart to
a four-year deal worth $3.75 million a season. It’s
a slight raise from his $3.5 million salary last season. The deal also includes a limited no-trade clause in the last two years of the contract.
Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin capped an
award-filled season by winning his first career Hart Trophy
as the National Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player and Nicklas Lidstrom of the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings captured his sixth Norris Trophy as the League’s top defenseman at the 2008 NHL Awards Show.
After being forced to miss Game 4 in
Pittsburgh with a hamstring injury, Red Wings forward Tomas
Holmstrom will be in the lineup on Monday night when Detroit attempts to win its fourth championship in 11 seasons (8 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, RDS, NHL Radio).
Comcast SportsNet Chicago has learned that the Blackhawks
are going to play the Red Wings at Wrigley
Field in January of 2009.
The National Hockey League will honor the winners
of three major regular-season trophies and will present two
special awards at a luncheon Wednesday in the Grand Ballroom of the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. The event will begin at 2 p.m., ET.
