I thought this was hilarious! 'The time has
come to vote for 2008 Sports Blog of the
Year. So in other words, show up, cast your vote for one of the same 8 recycled candidates from last year and be done with it. And be sure to vote once a day if you give a s__. '
It’s an annual event. I can’t help but
point out the ludicrous ballots of those privileged enough
to vote for Baseball’s Hall of Fame.
Nothing like an idiotic Rick Morrisey column about
the Bulls. Plus other great links on Mariotti, Marinelli
and more.
In this edition: Chester Frazier's massive jam, LaRussa
is not happy, Mariotti is back, Whitlock has truths
and more.
Boy that Brian Urlacher sure knows how to
engage the fanbase. He got his money, then failed
to deliver and now he doesn’t want to hear about it?
Peyton Manning can tell Brett Favre to move
over and make room for him atop the roster
of NFL Most Valuable Players.
If I’m Mike Fontenot, I hope I’m headed
to San Diego to be the 2nd baseman in
a Jake Peavy deal. Because I would be irate. Fontenot turned on the power last year, made only 1 error in 80+ games and had an OPS of .914.Is it the ‘grinder’ factor? It doesn’t get more gritty & grindy then Mike Fontenot.
Links to some great year in review stories
and our post of the year.
After spending much of the last two winters
wondering about his job security in Chicago, Mark DeRosa
was sent to Cleveland on Wednesday following the signing of second baseman Aaron Miles. The Cubs acquired three pitching prospects from the Indians for DeRosa.
Dwyane Wade has played in all 30 games,
and may be having his best season.
The Rockies' pursuit of Cubs right-hander Jason Marquis
appears to have paid off. ESPN first reported on
Tuesday that the Rockies have agreed to trade right-handed reliever Luis Vizcaino to the Cubs for Marquis, who could add the rotation depth the Rockies have sought this winter.
Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has a major
predicament in trying to replace Mike Shanahan. After firing
Shanahan on Tuesday, Bowlen must now revamp the entire football operation.
Awesome.
Covering seven straight road losses and all but
the final road game of December, the Bulls avoided
a winless road month with a gritty 100-87 victory over the Nets on Monday night at the IZOD Center.
This comes from game 6 of the Bulls/Knicks
series in 1994. Recall that the game before was
the infamous “Hue Hollins” game, which turned the tide in that series. Needless to say the Bulls were amped for game 6. No one more so than Scottie Pippen.
A look at some of the more fantastic
fades of this NFL season. Remember when the Bills
started out 5-1? They ended up 7-9. They went 0-6 against the AFC east. Stop me if this sounds familiar, Bears fans.
Tony Romo collapses in the shower, insert 5-8
December record joke here. Plus: Greg Oden, Luol Deng,
Wii injuries and more from the blogosphere.
Poor showing on defense suggests it's time for
staff, coaching changes.
Phil Rogers writes a column about teams rarely
being able to purchase championships. I don’t disagree. But
he took the time to dump on ARod (how novel) and Mark Teixeira. Mark Teixeira?
