Could Andre Smith’s suspension from the Sugar Bowl
actually strengthen his draft stock?
Andy Murray, one of the best singles tennis
players in the world, along with his brother Jamie,
who is a strong doubles player, will be represented by the two entities.
Yardbarker has plenty of big name professional athletes
blogging on its platform, but Rulon Davis has broken
ground by becoming the first college football blogger in the yard.
Happy New Year to all. Here are the
stories I missed this week:
No, I’m talking about Christmas and the associated
holidays. I’m talking about the European Soccer Transfer Window!
Last week, I created an ARPA group on
LinkedIn. If you are currently an agent representing clients
in any professional sport throughout the world, I implore that you join the group.
Rulon Davis, son of Sylvia and Lorenzo Davis,
is a 6′5, 281-pound, senior defensive end for the
California Golden Bears. Rulon has great size, football instincts, and intelligence and has matured well beyond his years.
Why is the MLBPA not taking action against
the MLB based on these potential claims? Is there
not enough evidence? Has the association felt that labor peace is more important than filing a grievance on behalf of a few players who may not have strong cases?
You are one of the best college football
players at your position and practically guaranteed to be
one of the top five overall picks in the upcoming NFL Draft (in fact, many have you slotted to be the first selection in the whole shebang).
The New York Times is also taking note
of Lonnie Cooper’s unfortunate start to the 2008/09 NBA
season. As I previously mentioned, all six NBA coaches fired so far this year are Career Sports & Entertainment clients.
Shawn Zobel is a young man who saw
an opportunity and took advantage of it. There are
117 days left until the 2009 NFL Draft, and Zobel is already hard at work compiling information on all of the college seniors and eligible juniors that will be declaring early.
Here are a few stories that we missed
during this slow week:
With the NFL Draft and the NFL post-season
upon us, sports fans are all buzzing in speculation
about who will be the next big thing for the 2009 season. Sports agents will be out in full force promoting and negotiating for their clients.
The applicants that have been selected to fill
positions in Dynasty’s Spring 2009 Intern Class have been
notified. Congratulations to Dynasty’s Spring 2009 Intern Class: Graham Chapman, Zakari Kurtz, Luca Esposito, Jonathan Woodard, and Gary Martoccio.
Vince Young is suing “three friends” for using
the “VY” and “INVINCEABLE” names that his three friends
got trademarked after his National Championship Rose Bowl appearance for Texas.
The point of this post is to congratulate
a couple of agents on some nice clauses they
put into their clients’ contracts. Starting with…
After reading many articles including ESPN The Magazine’s
Chris Broussard’s on Brandon Jennings‘ progress in Rome, along
with checking out Jennings’ blog, When In Rome, you can certainly see why Jennings will be a lottery pick in 2009.
3 Australians who have a strong chance of
being drafted.
At halftime of the Monday Night Football game
between the Texans and the Jaguars three weeks ago,
Drew Rosenhaus was given the opportunity to speak live about his client, Plaxico Burress‘ most recent legal situation.
The biggest sports agent related news of last
week had to be the battle of words between
the executives of the Atlanta Braves vs. the agents at Wasserman Media Group.
