Sitting around watching the San Diego/Baltimore game yesterday something strange happened. The scores from the afternoon games were flashing along the bottom of the TV and the Cleveland score came up. Here’s what I saw. (5-6) Houston 17, (7-4) Cleveland 27. It’s official. Lloyd Carr is no longer Michigan’s head coach. No real surprise here considering I said it from the beginning of the season. Carr had an interesting tenor at UM, to say the least. And there it is. Who took the over/under at 9 games? Ironman Larry Hughes will miss a month, possible (more than likely) more with a, get this, bruised left leg. Really? The Cavs host Utah tonight. Which means Carlos “I steal from the blind” Boozer is back in Cleveland. We all know Cavs fans hate him for leaving the way he did. He is one of the most hated people in Cleveland sports history.

As has been heavily discussed, it’s an off year for the The Game. Funny to say that considering this is all the game used to stand for; a Big Ten Championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl. Amazing what that BCS has done here. Oh well. It still UM and OSU. ‘Nough said. The Game has plenty of story lines to get over the fact that both lost last week and are out of the national title picture

has there even been a game to decide a conference champion that is less exciting. It’s still Ohio State and Michigan, and it still is for the Big Ten title, so there is some excitement to it, but it’s not the same. Both teams coming off losses really put a damper on it. Last week just kind of summed up the whole Big Ten season. It’s mediocre.

On the eve of the season opener, the Cavs finally signed Sasha Pavlovic. It’s about time. I don’t understand why this deal couldn’t have got done a month ago. There’s nothing, according to reports, out of the ordinary about the deal. Three years at $4-5 million a year. Sounds pretty standard for a guy like Sasha. Why couldn’t Danny Ferry make this offer sooner? What was he offering all summer?

The season starts in less than a week but the defending Eastern Conference Cavs open play in exactly one week on Halloween Night when the Dallas Mavericks come to town. The 2007-08 Cavilers will have an uphill battle as they try to defend their conference title. I found a check list of things Cavs GM Danny Ferry wanted to do this offseason. Let’s look at it and see how many got accomplished.

Why is everyone so surprised at the Browns looked bad on Sunday? Did people really think they’d score 51 points every game? The defense is bad. That should have been obvious after the Bengals game only people didn’t want to talk about that because the offense looked so good. My biggest problem is what the team was saying after the game. Numerous players said something like “we underestimated them"
