I bashed Jeff McInnis (well, his play) a
fair amount this year. But was he actually better
for the Cats than Matt Carroll? What Emeka and Nazr? Trying to find a better way to compare them led to some surprising results.
Emeka, please big like Elton and Baron. Money
isn't everything (easy to say for someone who will
never be offered a multi-million dollar contract).
What do the Celtics, Lakers, Spurs, and others
have in common? They are good. The Bobcats are
not. Can the Bobcats follow in the footsteps of these other teams to become great? The magic 8-ball says: My sources say no.
Thanks Chad Ford - Like Joe Dumars really
needed help ripping of the Bobcats again. After reviewing
your trade proposal, I'm going to have to decline (which probably means the Cats are thinking hard about accepting right now).
Breaking news flash coming in: The Bobcats need
big help. Ok, so it is not really a
new thought - but it is true in both the literal and figurative senses of the word. Here's a post looking at just how bad most of Charlotte's bigs were last year.
There might not be anyone the Bobcats should
take at 9? The Bobcats should trade the 9th
pick for 'Sheed? The Bobcats worked out who? Yeah, you should read this so the world will make sense again.
A compilation of links and thoughts on various
prospects, today focusing on Brook Lopez, the Stanford center.
He's tall and probably more athletic than George Zidek. Yeah, that about sums it up.
Every team has one - but not all
MVP's are created equally. This is one of those
cases.
Emeka is calm and consistent - robotic in
play and demeanor. So why does the team's results
around him seem so manic? One month they are world beaters with him on the court - the next, the worst team in basketball with him playing - despite putting up nearly identical numbers. Bobcats Basketball - It's fantastic - if you're masochistic.
Highs and lows of the Bobcats defense this
season - where there have been more lows than
highs. The numbers do seem to lend some credence to defense winning championships - the Cats win more win they play great defense than great offense. But why do they play better defense the faster the game is played?
Godsend. Then a solid contributor. On to a
matador and check-collector. Over the course of 3 months.
Looking at the numbers, for him and the team, since the trade went down. Joe Dumars wins again.
Further proof that less can be more. The
offense of the Bobcats performs better with Matt Carroll
than Jason Richardson, despite Richardson's better individual stats. What gives? A look at some of the numbers.
Seriously? Well, yeah...kind of. Let's just say that
one could make the case he isn't even the
MVP of his own team, at this point of the season. In fact, it just might be the young giant that Kobe disparaged this summer - Andrew Bynum - I recommend you tell Kobe about this, and demand him to raise his game or that you want out of LaLaLand.
Who's fueling the Bobcats early season effectiveness? Not
who you might think: Matt Carroll? Jeff McInnis?? Ryan
Hollins??? No hidden camera, no one about to tell you you've been punk'd - it is the amazing truth.
As a follow up to how the Bobcats
did against All-NBA players, another look, but but broken
down by team. Some surprises involved - Chris Bosh apparently has something against the Bobcats, but Kobe Bryant is not enough to carry the Lakers past the Bobcats.
How did the league's best, the All-NBA players,
fare against the Bobcats? Pretty well, actually, which is
to be expected. But how did they fare when they played the Bobcats best? Somewhat surprisingly, about the same - no running up the score against the scrubs for Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant?
Charlotte may be relatively new to professional sports,
but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a sports
movie about it (Juwanna Mann not included). Here are a few scripts that are re-worked to feature the Bobcats.
Hindsight is 20/20, but unfortunately time travel is
not possible, so it does not do much good
as basketball fans to get too worked up over the past. There is value in learning from it though. Take a lesson from James Cole and Marty McFly on this one.
A quick rundown of what the Bobcats have
committed in salary for the coming season, and thoughts
about the value of those contracts. A good reference for team payroll.
Gerald Wallace - Regarded as one of the
more underrated players in the NBA. Enough so, in
fact, that he may be about to become slightly overrated? Maybe - depends on what position he is playing. You'd think he's a great small forward and a decent power forward...but you'd be wrong. Flip it and you have what Gerald Wallace is.
