Here we are! It’s August 25th, 2008 and NCAA football games are just a few short days away. Summer is on the way out, and fall is just about to turn the leaves red. That means school for you young scholarly types and just colder weather for the rest of you - but it also means football! It all starts with a little NCAA action.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2008 Season Preview
The Jacksonville Jaguars were just one win away from playing in the AFC Championship Game last season. That fact will stick in the players' minds as they prepare for another successful run in 2008.

3 FREE NFL Pre-Season Winner tonight PLUS FREE 2008 NFL and NCAA Football Trends
The most important betting edge to know about in football wagering isn't statistics or numbers. The most important edge is emotion. Find the team that desires to win more than their opponent and they'll cover a high percentage of those events. This is true in all sports. But it is even more significant in a physical game like NCAA and NFL Football.

Fantasy football draft guide: Who to draft and when to draft ‘em
Fantasy football draft guide: Who to draft and when to draft ‘em
Any dummy can tell you to take LT with the first pick overall this year, but fantasy football championships are not won in the first round. Fantasy managers who do their homework and who pick up exceptional value in the later rounds of the draft are the ones who finish the season with hardware. The purpose of this article is to break down which players could be great value picks at every position

Fantasy Hockey: How to play, how to win
This introduction is not going to help you if your question is "What is a fantasy sport, do I make it up in my head?" or "What is this hockey thing and why do they play soccer with sticks on ice?" I'm trying to help those who may be trying fantasy hockey for the first time (but are veterans in football, baseball, etc.) or are returning fantasy hockey players who are just curious about the new game

Patriots need a backup plan desperately
Patriots need a backup plan desperately
Upon taking control of the team in the winter of 2000, before it had played so much as a down for him and even with an established gunslinger by the name of Drew Bledsoe on his roster, incoming Patriots head coach Bill Belichick alerted his quarterbacks coach, the late Dick Rehbein, that he was intent on finding a signal caller in waiting.

Fresh off Super Bowl victory, Giants open 2008 as underdog
Fresh off Super Bowl victory, Giants open 2008 as underdog
ALBANY, N.Y. — If the New York Giants came from nowhere to win the Super Bowl, they managed to make it a round trip. They are, once again, nowhere. Best team in the NFL? Hah. Go find someone — anyone — willing to make that declaration.

 Dodgers not blue
Dodgers not blue
Usually, when a team is 12 games below .500 with 36 games remaining, a gloomy reality takes hold. But last season's improbable evolution to the World Series has given the Rockies a different view of reality.

Fantasy Football Picks: Dos & Don’ts, Draft Day Trickery!
I’m not quite as wordy as my nephew, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have knowledge. Sure, he can get all wordily-smurdily, but I have 30 single sentences that will help you during your drafts, during the season, and during sex – believe it! Here they are, the never-dos; the dropped soap, the pissing peak, the naked wander down 5th avenue at noon – but all in fantasy terms, well mostly all.

Fantasy Football: 10 Pre-Season Observations
You can look at the pre-season a couple of different ways. Pure numbers is one way, but that is probably the most misleading way you can view the exhibition season. Just because a 3rd string running back finishes the pre-season with 350 yards and a couple touchdowns doesn’t mean he’s a must have sleeper or even worth a pick. And just because Marc Bulger has a few interceptions doesn’t mean he

NFL Tear Jerkers - Pre-Season Edition
It doesn’t need to be the regular season to make an old man cry. Pre-season flaps, mishandled snaps, contract mishaps and even the clap - there are many things that go on prior to the start of the season than can get an old man like me to well up like a little baby. Okay, you’ve got me, I don’t cry about jack, but there are a lot of things that piss me off. What things? you ask? Well, lets throw a

Best Offseason Move The Bengals calling Chad Johnson’s bluff. Perhaps they would have been better off trading the disenchanted star, but wasn’t it nice to see them not give any power to Ocho Cinco?

Can the next NFL Breakout Team be Predicted?
Each pre-season there seems to be one team that the media hops on as this year’s sleeper/breakout team. However, this team historically underachieves, and another team ends up being the true breakout team.

Mats Sundin Proposition Bets and 2009 Stanley Cup Odds
I am always impressed when sportsbooks use their imagination and create interesting hockey propositions. I must give props to Betsson for posting odds on what Mats Sundin will deicide to do this year. As the final coveted free agent, Sundin has kept hockey writers speculating about where and if he will play this year.

Rookie right-handed pitcher Jeff Samardzija could get the starting nod on Sunday for the Chicago Cubs. Samardzija is a possible starter due to a doubleheader during this week, which messes up the normal starting rotation.

Facebook and famous card-counter enter the fantasy football league market
Watch out Yahoo and ESPN (and even FleaFlicker!), there's another fantasy football league website in town, this one having the unique concept of being built into Facebook. Jeff Ma, one of the MIT card counters that inspired the book Bringing Down the House (which is a great book by the way) and the movie "21", along with business partner Mike Kerns, have created the company Citizen Sports, Inc.

Some players make name for themselves on special teams
Yesterday, Jed Collins was still listed as third on the Eagles' depth chart at fullback, behind Jason Davis and Luke Lawton. But on Sunday, Collins, a rookie free agent from Washington State, began working with the starters at practice. And as of now, Collins is slated to be the No. 1 fullback tomorrow night when the Eagles play the Carolina Panthers in their second preseason game.

 CHICAGO BEARS 2008 Preview Report
CHICAGO BEARS 2008 Preview Report
Well, the Bears got half of it correct. They dumped the right players (Archuleta was horrendous, Benson was a train wreck, Griese wasn’t needed, Kennedy was still too fat, Miller and Brown had aged and Walker was a bust). Problem is, Chicago didn’t find replacements for any of these guys. They underwent a stunning downgrade at wide receiver. Booker is a less-productive version of Muhammad, and

Fantasy Football: Tiered Receiver Rankings
Here are my *TOP 60 Wide Receivers. Naturally, I’m not giving you a cookie cutter rankings list, but I do have some reasoning behind the sanity, and if it’s good enough for the girl you go with, it should do for you too. Enjoy my tiered rankings. I’ve written a few words about the first 5 tiers – the rest are just listed without all the verbiage.
