The Pirates today acquired starting pitcher Matt Morris
from the San Francisco Giants for outfielder Rajai Davis
and a player to be named later. Despite day-long discussions with the Detroit Tigers, no deal was reached to send shortstop Jack Wilson to Detroit by the 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline.
According to two team sources, the Pirates are
discussing a deal with the Detroit Tigers that would
send their shortstop and highest-paid player to one of the American League's elite teams by Major League Baseball's non-waiver trading deadline at 4 p.m. today.
Izturis a Pirate? Jack Wilson may be traded.
What else does a Pirates fan have to look
forward to? PTBNL? Guess that will be a top prospect...not that there are many. That is just how DL roles.
Is it JvB time in da 'Burgh?
History denotes July 4th, 1927, as the date
that baseball was first introduced in Israel. The event
took place at the Sephardic Orphanage in Jerusalem when the governess of the orphanage handed out baseball equipment to her charges. The children took the baseballs, dropped them to the ground, and started kicking them, which was all they knew to do with a ball until that time.
An outsider look at the Pirates. They perform
a very nice high level view of the Pirates.
They make a few interesting observations that might be overlooked when you follow the team too closely.
I could not have said it better myself.
I was so steamed by the quotes I could
not find words, when joined together, that made sense.
