The Nets have their first reunion game of the season tonight, which happens to also be the home-opener.
Marcus Williams is back in town with the Golden State Warriors, the team he was traded to over the summer for a future conditional first-round draft pick. Williams’ return won’t be as emotional or as interesting as when Richard Jefferson comes back to New Jersey later in the year, or when Jason Kidd returns.
But at one point, the Nets felt that Williams could have been the point guard of the future. Now, the point guard of the present and future is Devin Harris.
Williams spoke to a group of reporters before the game and he seemed okay with his current situation, even though he didn’t play in either of the Warriors’ first two games. He admitted he’s had a problem getting acclimated with Golden State’s offensive style.
