A-Rod won't play in Subway Series
The Yankees won’t have Alex Rodriguez back for this weekend’s Subway Series, as the latest MRI on the third baseman’s strained right quadriceps left questions about A-Rod’s return date.
Rodriguez has been on the disabled list since April 30, missing the last 10 games. He initially injured the quad on April 20, and after missing three games, he returned to the lineup only to aggravate it on April 28.
The Yankees had hoped the MRI would show the muscle to be completely healed, allowing Rodriguez to play in two rehab games this week before being activated. Instead, Yankees orthopedist Dr. Allen Miller asked for the original MRI results to be sent to Tampa so he could compare the two, putting A-Rod in a holding pattern for the next day or two.
Rodriguez has been working out at the Yankees’ minor-league complex in Tampa since Friday, taking batting practice, fielding grounders and doing some running. He will continue those workouts on Tuesday, but the timetable for ...
