When right-handed reliever Andrew Brown, who underwent an appendectomy at a Bay Area hospital Tuesday, was placed on the 15-day DL before the second game of a three-game series against the visiting Rays at McAfee Coliseum, it marked the 11th time the As have put a player on the shelf this season.
