Abreu's a hit with Venezuelan Little Leaguers
A few notes from last night’s game at Camden Yards:
Bobby Abreu hosted about 25 kids from the Venezuelan Little League team that was bumped from the LLWS on Thursday, busing them in from Williamsport, bringing them on the field during batting practice, setting them up with tickets (and hot dogs) and introducing them to some of his teammates.
Why did Abreu do this? Because he wanted to.
There was no ulterior motive behind this, Abreu just wanted to do something nice for a bunch of kids from his home country who had never seen a big-league game.
“I saw those guys on TV, and for most of them, I’m their favorite player,” Abreu said. “Why not give them a surprise, bring them here, let them meet me and enjoy the game?”
One of the kids is a huge Alex Rodriguez fan, so Abreu brought A-Rod over to meet him during BP.
