Abreu's Go Ahead Single Enough in a Close Win

 
Bronx, NY - Bobby Abreu was all smiles after the game on Thursday night after he came through in a one out, bloop RBI single in the 8th inning.  Yankee hitting was shut down most of the night and they couldn't seem to get anything going.  McGowen did a great job, only getting in trouble in the 6th when he loaded the bases with none out.  He threw a wild pitch for the first Yankees run of the night and gave up another on a sac fly to right field by Giambi. Brian Wolfe gave up the go ahead run to Bobby Abreu. Joba Chamberlain pitched a scoreless 8th for the win and Rivera closed it down in the 9th. Phillip Hughes went 6 strong innings for the Yankees, striking out 4 while giving up 4 hits on 2 runs.  Billy Traber came into the game in the 7th to face Overbay and did his job.  Brian Bruney closed out the rest of the 7th by retiring Hill and Scutaro consecutively.
