Andy scratched again

For the second time this spring, Andy Pettitte has been scratched from a start because of what the team is calling a minor injury. Pettitte was scheduled to throw a minor-league game today at the Himes complex, but back spasms have forced him to the trainer’s room. Both Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi say they’re not worried, though there has to be some level of concern about a 34-year-old dealing with his second injury in a couple of weeks. “If you’re going to have this type of stuff, this is the time to have it,” Cashman said. The plan is for Pettitte to make his final spring start on Thursday, throwing 85-90 pitches, though that will depend on how his back responds in the next day or two. The Yankees have an off-day after their season-opener, so Pettitte will get an extra day to play around with to heal up. Girardi says Pettitte is still on track to start the second game of the season. [link]
