Okay, I know Chelsea keep saying they’re not spending in January but the press are having a laugh now surely?
Last transfer window it was silly money for Robinho and a sneaky bid for Berbatov , with the usual Kaka rumour thrown in for good measure but come January, according to the press, Scolari’s setting his sights slightly lower.
This time round we’re being told Scolari’s preferred choice of Kenwyne Jones could be out of his reach at £9million, so the Chelsea boss could opt for either Emile Heskey or Kevin Davies with their lower £3million price tags suiting his budget a little better.
The fact that neither of them are anywhere near as prolific in front of goal as we need is irrelevant as far as the press are concerned because they’re cheap.
Anyway, as if to back this up, a Chelsea "insider" is quoted as saying:
