Ball State rematch could be in Cards for Rutgers

There is a possibility the Rutgers football team could wind up playing nationally ranked Ball State, the 12th ranked team in the BCS, in the Dec. 26 Motor City Bowl if the Knights defeat Louisville tonight and the unbeaten Cardinals (12-0) defeat Buffalo tomorrow night in the MAAC championship game and finish 13-0. That is one of the possibilities bowl organizers involved with the Detroit game are looking into. Interestingly, the Scarlet Knights played Ball State last year in the International Bowl in Toronto and blew away the Cardinals, 52-30, in a game where Ray Rice ran for 280 yards and four touchdowns. A lot of things would have to fall into place, though. Pitt would have to go to the Sun Bowl and West Virginia, which plays South Florida, would have to be selected by the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Then, the International Bowl could conceivably select Rutgers and swap them to the Motor City Bowl if the Football Bowl Association agrees. (link)
