Barry Bonds: being treated unfairly?

 
Apparently the baseball players' association thinks that Barry Bonds is being treated unfairly. Less than two weeks before opening day, the 43-year-old home run king remains unsigned and the players' association is going to investigate that as part of their annual review of the free-agent market "He's in playing shape right now. He just hasn't hit off live pitching," Bonds' agent, Jeff Borris, said. "I've had conversations with Barry. It would probably take him about two weeks to get ready." So what's keeping Bonds from being signed?  He was indicted in November on four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice, he's a defensive liability in the National League and the American League contenders already have a designated hitter. Tampa Bay acknowledged last month that it had internal discussions about the prospect of pursuing Bonds.
