BCS Standings: Why a Computer Will Screw Florida
As I watched my team get dropped by San Francisco, they were showing the "new" batch of rankings for the BCS heading into this weekend's key matchup between Texas Tech and Oklahoma. We all know that if Texas Tech wins this game, they're facing Mizzou for the Big XII Championship in a few weeks. But what if Oklahoma wins...does this put them in the hunt for the BCS Championship? Or will it be Texas playing for the national championship against either Florida or Alabama?
Truth be told, this system that we have working now is not doing the job. But the system will most likely pick Texas over Florida to play for the crown. Why? Because if the computer still thinks that Texas is better than Florida, then we're not the ones that's going crazy...it's them that agree with the computer.
But don't expect the guys in Austin to disagree. They believe that as long as Texas is #3 and Florida is #4, then the computer is doing its job right. But what if the computer is wrong? I have never agreed with the so ...
