Beckham Goal Favorite Fan Memory of Premier League

Some interesting results came out of a worldwide survey, sponsored by Barclay’s, of 32,000 football fans across 185 countries. The fans voted David Beckham’s goal from the halfway line against Wimbledon in 1996 as the fans’ favorite moment since the league began in 1992. The most popular player in the Premier League is Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, who received 38 percent of votes. Teammate Steven Gerrard was second and Manchester United’s newly crowned European player of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo, third. The most amazing statistic was that more than 80 percent of the fans surveyed said that football was their most regular topic of conversation while 49 percent said it was more important to them than even family and partners.
