David Beckham had a breakthrough night at the GALAXY home-opener in the second week of MLS. His excellent ninth-minute goal, along with an assist to Landon Donovan in their 2-0 win over the Earthquakes was what inspired the North American Soccer Reporters to vote him the MLS Player of the Week.
