Earnhardt will start from the top spot for Sunday's Samsung 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas after touring the 1.5-mile track in 28.286 seconds (190.907 mph), a lap that second-place qualifier Carl Edwards described as "screaming fast." Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the third Hendrick driver to earn a pole this season. Now maybe he can be the first to win a race. Earnhardt, the Hendrick newcomer and the team's most consistent finisher with four consecutive top 10s, ran a fast lap of 190.907 mph Friday at Texas Motor Speedway to earn the pole for the Samsung 500. It is his first pole in 22 races, since Pocono in August. "The car ...Fearless Forecast: Who Will Win at Texas?

Parity is one word that well describes Texas Motor Speedway. Only one NASCAR Cup driver was won more than once here- Jeff Burton. With speed being the rule of the day here- look for past winners Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, and Matt Kenseth to do well. My pick is a driver who hasn't won at the Great American Speedway since 2001.
