Blue Jays-Red Sox: Toronto Pounds On Another Boston Pitcher In Big Win
Just one week after giving Red Sox ace Josh Beckett a 15-4 pounding, the Jays managed to turn it on against another good Boston pitcher, Jon Lester (12-5).
The Jays were able to produce 11 runs on 16 hits, and it seems blowing out the opposition is becoming routine for the team.
The Jays were able to capitalize early, and they scored runs in each of the first five innings with most of the damage coming against Lester.
In the first inning against the Red Sox, Wells sent the first pitch he saw from the left-handed Lester, bouncing it off the facing of the second deck in left field, giving Toronto a 2-0 lead with a two-out, two-run blast.
Wells wasn't done there as he managed another home run, this one a solo shot, in the fifth inning off of reliever Chris Smith. Marco Scutaro also got in the action with his sixth home run of the season, also off of Smith.
Both Alex Rios and Kevin Mench contributed big time in the onslaught with three hits a piece and Lyle Overbay had three RBI's.
