Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz was out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive game Sunday with a bruised right knee.
Ortiz was hurt while diving into first base attempting to beat out a double-play grounder in the final inning of Friday's 5-4, 11-inning loss to Tampa Bay.
"He's sore," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said.
Ortiz is undergoing treatment for the injury, which is not considered serious.
