Breaking News: Chicago Blackhawks Sign Marian Hossa To 12 Year Deal

Many media outlets are reporting that the Chicago Blackhawks have signed wing Marian Hossa to at 12 year deal worth around 62.4 million dollars, a cap hit around 5.2 million. Hossa signed a one year deal with the Detroit Red Wings last offseason in an attempt to win a Stanley Cup, but this offseason Hossa was looking for long term security and the Blackhawks offered it to him. Last season Hossa played very well for the Detroit Red Wings scoring 40 goals and 31 assists for 71 points, but many criticized Hossa for his poor playoff performance recording only 15 points in 23 playoff games. This signing likely signals the end of the Martin Havlat era in Chicago and he will likely get big bucks from an Eastern Conference team like the Montreal Canadiens or New York Islanders. (link)
