Brewers Make A Pair Of Minor Signings

 
The Milwaukee Brewers signed Utility Jason Bourgeois to a Minor League contract and Left-hand Reliever RJ Swindle to a Major League contract on Tuesday. Bourgeois, a nine-year Minor League veteran, spent most of his time at Triple-A Charlotte as a member of the Chicago White Sox organization. This past season he hit .286 with a .335 On-Base-Percentage (OBP), nine home runs, 83 runs, and 30 stolen bases. In the nine seasons he has spent in the Minor Leagues, Bourgeois has stolen a total of 201 bases. Whether he will have a role in the Major Leagues next season is yet to be known. At most he would be a reserve, but will have to battle with players such as Casey McGehee, Alcides Escobar, Mat Gamel, Hernan Iribarren, Tony Gwynn Jr, and Brad Nelson for a bench role. Swindle, a 14th-round Draft pick by the Red Sox in 2004, is a soft-tossing, left-handed reliever.  As a reliever in the minors over the past four seasons, Swindle has posted a phenomenal 1.58 ERA in 194 innings while striking out ...
