Things got a bit out of hand last night at the RBC Center as the Carolina Hurricanes held on to beat the Minnesota Wild by a score of 3-2. The Canes came out of the dressingroom and took it to the surprised team from Minnesota right from the get-go. They looked like they were going to run the Wild right out of the rink, but to Minnesota’s credit, they held in there and made a game out of it.
About 6 minutes into the 3rd period, the Wild’s Aaron Voros started a near riot on the ice as he boarded Eric Staal , right in front of the Wild bench. While I wouldn’t call the hit a vicious one, it was certainly stupid and dangerous. As you can see from the video, Staal had his back to the play and was in a vulnerable position. Voros had plenty of opportunity to back off, but didn’t.
Pardon my rant, but I just don’t understand the lack of respect by some players in this league. It seems like if they have a chance to hurt someone, they will take it. ...
