Brush It Off Wings Fans
Back-to-back games over 2000 miles away is a tough task no matter who you're playing. Throw in that Detroit had to face a hot Anaheim team and the Western Conference leading San Jose Sharks on back-to-back nights away from home and you can almost be satisfied that the Wings took home one point out of a possible four there.
This won't happen often, in fact, it might be the only time it happens all season to Detroit. Brush it off.
The Sharks wanted it more last night because they had more to lose. They are coached by Todd McClellan, who last year was an assistant behind the Wings bench. To maintain credibility, he had to win this game. The Sharks were in a somewhat unfamiliar position as leaders of the conference. It was more important for them to maintain that success even if it might only be temporary.
Factor in that Detroit went to overtime against Anaheim the previous night and it added up to a loss, and it really wasn't as close as the score indicates.
No one is saying today that San Jose ...
