Buffalo Sabres Drop a Tough One to the Colorado Avalanche
The Sabres traveled to Colorado to take on the Avs Saturday night, looking to keep their consecutive point streak intact. Colorado was looking to make it five wins in a row.
Buffalo got on the board first in the second period, when Dan Paille deflected a shot from the point past Peter Budaj. The game was full of chances for both teams. Budaj and Ryan Miller were up for the challenge, with each making incredible stops during the game.
In the third period, Buffalo came out extremely flat. Colorado seized the opportunity and hemmed Buffalo in their own end for most of the third period. With roughly six minutes to go in the third, Colorado finally struck, as Jordan Leopold snuck a shot past Miller to tie up the game.
Overtime saw Buffalo muster just one shot on Budaj, and Colorado could only get two shots on Miller. It would take five rounds of the shootout to decide the game, and when it was over, Colorado came out victorious.
