Butler: Cinderella Team or Deadly Threat?

 
The Associated Press has them ranked 11 th . USA Today has them ranked 10 th . However, the NCAA Tournament committee has the Butler Bulldogs ranked as a seven-seed!   How could that be? Are you just as confused as I am?   If the Bulldogs are worthy of a 10-spot in the ESPN/USA Today poll, should they not also be deserving of at least a number three seeding?   There are supposedly only nine or ten teams better than Butler in the polls, but apparently at least 24 teams better than Butler in the NCAA Tournament! For this reason I am completely baffled.   The Butler Bulldogs have exhibited one of the best finishes of the college basketball season by winning 13 of their last 14 games, with that one loss coming to Drake, a number five seed in the NCAA Tournament.   Moreover, the Bulldogs have only lost three games all season by a combined total of 10 points! Butler also won the Horizon League title, a conference that boasts four 20+ win teams.
