Cano, Giambi contribute to home run derby

 
Solid win for the Yankees today, especially when you consider that a good portion of the damage came off the bats of Jason Giambi and Robinson Cano. The two of them have been struggling to find their groove all season, so maybe this will be a springboard for them to get going. Giambi hit a two-run homer - his first at the Stadium since last August - while Cano had his first multi-hit game since April 12, homering and hitting a double, a hit which led to him scoring the game-winning run. Cano was more excited to contribute to a win than he was about his personal success, but it was clear that he was pleased to come away with a positive game as the Yankees hit the road for seven games in Detroit and Tampa. “I think it was important for him mentally,” Joe Girardi said. “It’s great to see him smile.
