According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post , Luis Castillo wants a second chance to prove himself in 2009. Sherman says that Luis Castillo called for a meeting with the heads of the organization in which he contested the idea for the Mets to trade him. Castillo said that he is dedicated to a off-season workout program to get himself in the best possible shape for 2009. In the Meeting between Castillo and Omar Minaya and Tony Bernazard, Castillo accepted responsibility for not being in shape for 2008. He claims that he wants to make amends for the problems in 2008 and he thinks he owes it to the fans, as well as the organization. The Mets officials were pleased that Castillo did not run away from the problems and were delighted that he wanted to make things better.
"He wanted to let the front office know that he was disappointed in how the year went, and promise to do everything he could to get in shape and be the kind of player he had been for 10 years," Minaya said. Minaya and Bernazard ...
