Celtics Doing Alright With Cassell

Sam Cassell looks like E.T. and his team is playing out of this world! Since picking up Cassell via buyout, The Boston Celtics are 8-1 with key wins over Detroit, San Antonio, and Houston. All of those key wins mentioned above were bigger than just a win or a loss in the standings. Boston silenced critics with the victory over Detroit, came back from 23 points down to beat the Spurs Monday, and ended Houston's 22 game winning streak by blowing them out by 22 points last night. Is it a coincidence that since Sam-I-Am's arrival the C's have been arguably the most dominant team in the league? No, no coincidence. Sam Cassell has just slowed down the tempo and helped Boston to play smarter and more physical. However, Sam was also brought in not only to provide veteran leadership, but offense too. He's only scored 35 points in his first 9 games, including going scoreless in 5 of those. Then again Sam Cassell could still be just adjusting to his new role on a new team and a new ballclub. I ...
