Chains at the Yankees during the 7th inning stretch? The most patriotic moments at Yankee Stadium can also be the most confining. George Steinbrenner calls it "a patriotic plan to restrict movement"... Fools would say...  What do I have against singing? Nothing I'll sing for you now man call me up... Why do I hate America? Hey aim hire... What am I then a Red Sox fan? Maybe baby just maybe... That said, I can't stand the song "God Bless America." Putting aside the church-vs.-state discussions, it's just a poorly written and constructed song, sugarly, stupidly sentimental, not Irving Berlin's happiest moment as a songwriter. All told, "America The Beautiful" is a decidedly superior song. And I really can't stand how Yankee Stadium still plays the song every seventh inning stretch; the pomp reeks of "We Are More Patriotic Than You Are" self-congratulation. Bob Sheppard Will Miss Opening Day

Yankees PA announcer Bob Sheppard, who is recovering from health issues, said he will not be able to make it to Opening Day this year , the final opener at Yankee Stadium. It's ashame, the place really isn't the same without him. Sheppard does expect to be back at The Stadium at some point this year, "I don't know when it will be, but it will be," he said.
