Checking on the Phillies Hot Stove

 
So the Phillies are still World Champions , but what have they been doing to build the next championship squad? Let's start with the guys who have filed for free agency.   Pat Burrell Obviously Burrell is the guy everyone will be watching. Some say he is fit for an American League designated hitter but Burrell still wants to play in the field. Not exactly a Gold Glove caliber fielder, Burrell sometimes gets a bad rap just for his speed. I am starting to think that the post-Burrell era is about to begin. What helps the chances of Burrell returning is the move the Rockies and A's made, sending Matt Holliday to Oakland and eliminating the Phillies from those trade rumors. If the Phillies are still planning on having Holliday in left field in 2010 then signing Burrell likely comes off the table.
