Chicago Blackhawks sign centre Tim Brent.

 
After years of being the 'Celler Dwellers' of the Western Conference, it appears the Chicago Blackhawks are finally putting the peaces together for a playoff run this upcoming season. The Blackhawks announced today, the signing of centre Tim Brent, to a one year contract. Brent who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchage for defense-man Danny Richmond on July 17, hasn't exactly made a name for himsef in the NHL yet. Bent has skated in a total of 16 National Hockey League games, recording just one goal and six penalty minutes in those games. However, the AHL appears to b his comfort zone. After four professional seasons of hockey, Brent as tallied 133 points (54 goals, 79 assists) and 193 penalty minutes in 205 career AHL contests. During the 2007-08 season he notched career highs in goals (18) assists (43) and pints (61) in 74 regular season games, while playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh's affiliate).
