The Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers played to a 10-all tie yesterday in Arizona. Alfonso Soriano hit a three-run homer, Ronny Cedeno added another, and non-roster invitee Micah Hoffpauir homered twice. The Cubs did not want to give away too much to the Brewers in this game, since they'll be meeting again in their home opener. Cory Bailey got the start and pitched two innings, allowing six earned runs on five hits. After his two innings of work, the Cubs then marched out six different relief pitchers who combined to give up three earned runs while striking out four. Sean Marshall put in some work but struggled, pitching two innings and walking three, allowing only one run to cross the plate. Marshall is the front-runner for the left-handed reliever spot, but Lou Piniella said that it still might go to Carmen Pignatiello who has pitched great this spring. Pignatiello has a 0.90 era and has recorded two saves this spring. We will just have to wait and see if Sean Marshall is out of a ...
