Closing Time: Why The Milwaukee Brewers Should Put Trevor Hoffman On Their Radar

 
The Milwaukee Brewers have lost the bidding war for CC Sabathia, and Ben Sheets shouldn't be too far behind on his way out of town. Milwaukee has also lost their closer in Salomon Torres to retirement, which makes pitching a No. 1 priority for the Crew. One such necessity is a closer, and Milwaukee has interest in three: Kerry Wood, Brian Fuentes, and Trevor Hoffman. Wood is close to a deal with Cleveland, and if it's between Hoffman and Fuentes, I'm picking Trevor. Let's add a little fun to this, and bring in the help of Semisonic and their hit "Closing Time", to show why Hoffman is made for Milwaukee. "Closing time, open all the doors, and let you out into the world." That's pretty much what MLB free agency is, you are on the open market, and are free to go anywhere you like. "Closing time, you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here." Hoffman doesn't have to retire and relax at home, but because the Padres didn't offer him a new contract, he for sure ... (link)
