Connecticut legitimized their ranking Sunday night against Miami, pushing its lead to 24-8 on a 12-0 run early in the first half and leading the rest of the way. The duo of Jack McClinton and Dwayne Collins wasn’t enough to keep the Hurricanes in the game, especially with four Huskies scoring in double figures.
Any doubts the country had about Connecticut following a mediocre performance against La Salle can be put back on the shelf. La Salle was the first team to shoot 50 percent against Connecticut since George Mason knocked off the Huskies in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, but 2008’s Connecticut has played through the tough times early in this season.
Sunday night’s game against Miami was a full effort from Jim Calhoun’s squad. Only eight recorded a statistic, hardly making this a learning game.
