Come To Think of It...Oh What a Relief It Is, Cubs Win Despite Shaky Ninth

There used to be a commercial whose jingle went, "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is." Well, except for the plop and fizz, that's how Cubs fans everywhere must be feeling after a much needed victory in St. Louis last night. Break out the Mogan David, honey, we durn won us a ballgame! Yes, relief! In addition to showing my age, I say this because even the ending had you on the edge of your seat. It seems Woody is still struggling, as he gave up a two-run homer in the ninth before getting his 29th save Wednesday night. This after a blown save in his last effort, his sixth of the season. Ted Lilly came up BIG for the Cubbies last night. We needed a gutsy performance, and we sure got one from Lilly. I personally would have trotted him out to pitch the ninth inning, and I said that even before Wood's horror show.
