Tom Coughlin said today that he felt “disappointment” and “sadness” about the whole Plaxico Burress situation. He was also was saddened by the fact that he wasn’t able to help a player who was obviously in need.
“In the position I am in, and probably 32 guys around the league, we all feel that if we can recognize someone who needs help, we can help them,” Coughlin said. “Obviously in this case I’m saddened that, despite the fact that we had two really good weeks, this happened. And I’m saddened by it.”
Coughlin said that Burress was “very humble” and “remorseful” when he spoke to his suspended receiver yesterday. And he sensed nothing but concern when he addressed his team about the suspension earlier this morning.
