Curry likely to face surgery on right knee

 
Eddy Curry’s disappointing season is officially over. Curry, the team’s starting center who is sidelined with torn cartilage in his right knee, will likely need surgery. “I don’t think I should go any further medically, but the assumption is he’s probably done,” Isiah Thomas told reporters yesterday at practice. Curry’s final numbers for the season are 13.2 points per game and a woeful 4.7 rebounds per game. Consider that Shaquille O’Neal, who is clearly on the downside of his career, is averaging 13.2 points and 8.5 rebounds. Curry, allegedly in the prime of his career, can’t even keep pace with a broken down Shaq. The Knicks won’t say it but they have to be concerned with where Curry’s career is headed. Any type of knee surgery will set him back because conditioning has been a major issue with Curry despite Thomas’ absurd claim that conditioning “has never been a problem.” Curry’s absence should ...
