At the risk of stating the patently obvious, the Dallas Mavericks are in trouble. Boatloads of it. As the Dallas Mavericks went down again on Sunday, so did all-star forward Dirk Nowitzki. The 6-11 star hit the ground hard and his knee twisted underneath him. With Dallas providing a failed comeback that did little to mask the 20 plus points the Lakers were throttling them by at one point, it has become obvious that this Mavs team might not exactly be considered in the elite of the Western Conference. The two-week estimate coming from the Mavs yesterday turned out to be optimistic. A high ankle sprain could very well sideline Dirk for the rest of regular season.
