No, Johnny Damon couldn’t talk his way off the DL and into the lineup, and he doesn’t seem particularly pleased about another day – or several – of Red Bull-chugging cheerleader duty. He did resume a light throwing program before Sunday’s game, but GM Brian Cashman suggested the Yanks want to remain cautious and might still send Damon on a one-game rehab assignment this week – and maybe not until Thursday’s off-day, according to Girardi - before activating him. “I let it be known to them that I was ready. I think they want to be extra cautious because what’s hurt this team all year has been injuries and I don’t think they want to see me jump back on the DL.
