To say Nashville Preadtors goaltender Dan Ellis has been patient is an understatement.
In 2007-2008, Ellis, a former second-round pick of the Dallas Stars, finally got his chance to be a starter for an NHL team—which has seen its fair share of goaltender issues since the departure of Tomas Vokoun.
In 44 games last season, Ellis posted a 23-10-3 record, with a 2.34 GAA and a .934 save percentage—on a team picked to finish near dead last by almost every hockey analyst. Not too shabby, considering up until last season Dan had played one career NHL game.
With the departure of goaltender Chris Mason to St.Louis, this is Ellis's job to lose. Nashville has had their fair share of departures this off season, and with the weight of the team on his shoulders, I for one think Ellis will handle the pressure fine.
I once read Dan Ellis said all he wanted was a chance to prove himself. The time is now, Dan. I, for one, wish him the best of luck.
