Virginia Tech running back Darren Evans had the game of his life on Thursday night, rushing for 253 yards and one touchdown. Sean Glennon also had a good game, throwing for 127 yards and a touchdown.
The Hokies were creative on offense for the first time all season. Junior tight end Greg Boone lined up at quarterback a number of times, but didn't throw a pass. Instead he had six punishing carries for 22 yards, and there were a couple of reverse handoffs that caught the Terrapins defense off guard.
This was a big win for Virginia Tech. After losing two in a row, they went into a bye week unsure of who their quarterback would be, but Sean Glennon played like you expect a senior to play in a big situation.
Maryland came into the game ranked outside of the top 50 in rushing defense, and the Hokies obviously wanted to take advantage. That they did, as Evans carried the ball 32 times for 253 yards. His performance was truly special, and he broke Mike Imoh's ...
