Day 2: Jets pick San Jose State CB

 
Good afternoon. We’re back on the clock. As you know, the Jets had no third-round pick. In the fourth, they traded down 11 spots, re-acquiring the pick they sent to the Packers in the Dustin Keller trade. With No. 113 overall, they selected San Jose State CB Dwight Lowery. Great ball skills, marginal speed. Going into his senior year, he was thought of as a potential first-day pick, but he bombed at the scouting combine, running a 4.55 in the 40. Ouch. It killed his stock. But here’s a guy who recorded 13 interceptions the last two seasons. He could be a good fit in Eric Mangini’s scheme because he won’t be required to play a lot of man-to-man. The Jets still have cornerback issues. Beyond Darrelle Revis, they have David Barrett, Justin Miller (coming back from major knee surgery), Drew Coleman and retread Andre Woolfork. Hank Poteat, a free agent, could be re-signed. This is not an area of strength for the Jets. Calling Ty Law … (link)
