Derek Lowe Unimpressed with Mets’ Offer

 
(Zell's Pinstripe Blog)  Derek Lowe was offered a three year $36MM offer from the Mets’ . Mike Puma of the NY Post says Derek was “hardly overwhelmed” by the offer, and that is understandable. Think about it. If a guy like…let’s say…Miguel Batista can make $9.5 million last year, then shouldn’t Lowe make a lot more then that? Batista was horrible last year. He posted a record of 4-14 and a 6.26ERA. Pitching is at a high demand right now and it isn’t very easy to come by. The league is watered down and the amount of quality pitchers out there seems to be lower then ever. Even bad pitchers can make $8M+ nowadays. You see some really bad contracts given to pitchers who don’t even deserve it. Derek Lowe has been a very dependable pitcher over the years, and has put up impressive numbers. He deserves a lot more then what the Mets’ offered him.      If I was Derek Lowe..I would be disgusted with that offer as ... (link)
