Daisuke Matsuzaka went 7 1/3 strong innings and the Boston Red Sox got some timely hitting as they went on to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2 in front of 38,425 at Safeco Field. The win for the Sox moves them to within a ½ game of the Tampa Bay Rays who lost for first place in the AL East.
