If the Eagles beat the Giants at the Meadowlands on Sunday they will do something that nobody in the history of the NFL has been able to do:
Nobody has ever beaten the Giants twice at the Giants’ home in the same season. Nobody.
Ever.
OK, that’s not really as impressive as it sounds because in the history of the NFL, the Giants have only played host to the same opponent twice in the same season nine times. But four of those times the Giants won both games and the other five times they split. The Eagles, of course, are already up 1-0 having beaten the Giants 20-14 at Giants Stadium on Dec. 7.
The odds are against them doing it again.
Here’s the history lesson, as pieced together from the Giants’ media guide:
2000 - Philadelphia Eagles: Giants won both games; 24-7 in the regular season, 20-10 in the divisional playoffs.
1986 - Washington Redskins: Giants won both games; 27-20 in the regular season, 17-0 in the playoffs.
