For pure stagecraft, the sudden production from stealth bomber Nick Evans is worth rave reviews in the Mets' melodramatic search for stability. Summoned from the mid-minors last Friday and given his first starting assignment two days ago, the 23-year-old Evans has conjured watershed hits in consecutive victories over the Cardinals.
